So first off if you become an avid reader you will soon notice a lot of Dr. Oz and Oprah subject matter, its true I love them, so when they both feature an anti aging anti-dote on their shows I had to check it out. So if you haven’t heard about resveratrol here is the 411,-Its a polyphenolic compound found in grapes, the ingrediant is found in red wine, however you would have to consume 180 bottles per night to achieve the desired affects,
-Age Extension, it is currently being thought of as the most promising anti-aging compound ever found. Although relatively new on the scene, high hopes for cancer prevention, diabetes and even Alzheimer’s are seen as its potential. There have been numerous studies displaying between a 30-50% extension in age amongst test animals. Monkeys and rats put on the drug were shown to have less body fat, more lean muscle mass and shinier coats then there control group.
What about weight loss? It appears that it can be an appetite suppresser, due to its high antioxidant content, and helps to speed up your metabolism, burning off more calories. So it will go a little way to helping as part of a good dieting regime.
So with all this “evidence” I decided that if its good enough for Dr Oz then I mights as well give its a whirl… I have taken the supplement for a week and have actually noticed that my appetitie has definitely been reduced. Although its always hard to know when you take these kinds of things whether or not its a mental or physical reaction- I’m going to stick with it and I will give you an update next month.
Skeptism? Good idea, we should always question what we put in our bodies, whether it be food, medication or supplements. And although I am intrigued by resveratrol it is important to keep in mind that it has mainly only been tested on animals…and even though it is being sold at health stores, the fda has yet to approve the drug.
